What our members say

We champion all chairs and their boards
We are the only membership organisation specifically focused on supporting charity chairs and their boards. Our membership includes vice-chairs, co-chairs, former chairs, committee chairs, experienced and aspiring chairs, and trustees.
Our mission is to champion charity and non-profit chairs and their boards in all their diversity, empowering them with confidence, collaboration, and community. Our vision is of effective and valued chairs, with flourishing boards, leading resilient non-profits which make a positive impact in the world. Read more about our mission, vision, and values.
Our impact
The chairing role can be challenging and chairs often feel like they shoulder a heavy burden. We offer a dedicated community to support chairs with their crucial roles. We also work with boards so they learn and develop with their chair, work well together as a team, and are upskilled and supported no matter where they are in their trustee and leadership journeys.
You can’t have an effective non-profit without an effective chair and an effective board. Our impact has a “ripple effect” – supporting chairs and their boards to be effective means their charities will be better governed, more resilient, and more likely to achieve the social impact they aim for.

We connect and support
We support chairs through challenges, helping them to access support, mentoring, and guidance.
202 individuals benefited from our chair support service in 2025/6, and 423 attended our peer support events (in person and online). A total of 98 chairs received mentoring.
96% of those taking part in our peer support services reported feeling more supported and 91% reported feeling less alone.
88% of those using the chair support services said it helped them resolve their challenge (for others it was ongoing).

We learn and develop
We deliver training and resources to help chairs and trustees be more effective and feel more confident in their board roles.
In 2025/6 we delivered 77 events, with 2132 bookings.
Of those attending our events, 82% reported gaining new ideas about how to be more effective and 69% said they will do something differently in their role as a result. 97% agreed they had learned from other chairs/trustees or made new connections.
We launched 32 new or updated learning resources, templates and publications, and published 19 blogs on a variety of topics related to chairing, trusteeship and good governance.
